We are thrilled to share the news that Lizzy Noone has joined IDEA as our new Capacity Development Manager. Many of you will already know Lizzy as a familiar, friendly and energising presence across the sector - one of Ireland’s most passionate, experienced and values-driven Global Citizenship Education (GCE) practitioners.

Lizzy brings more than 25 years of experience working with schools, teachers, young people and organisations to deepen GCE learning and practice. Her work spans whole-school GCE integration, campaigning, youth participation, teacher training and creative learning methodologies grounded in justice, solidarity and systemic awareness. She has spent the past 12 years as an Education Officer with WorldWise Global Schools (WWGS), supporting schools across the North East of Ireland and Northern Ireland. Prior to this, she spent over 15 years with Concern Worldwide, contributing to EU-funded initiatives including campaigns focused on child labour, social justice and international development.

Through her work with WWGS, she has supported more than 200 schools to embed sustainability and GCE at a whole-school level - making a significant and lasting contribution to teaching practice and youth empowerment across the island. Her approach to GCE is rooted in care, critical thinking, creativity and participation. Lizzy believes that global citizenship belongs everywhere in education - not as an add-on, but as a lens through which learners explore the world, question unequal systems and imagine fairer futures. She is also a strong advocate for creative pedagogies, including arts-based and experiential learning, which she sees as powerful ways to help students engage deeply with global justice, human rights, and interdependence.

In my new role as Capacity Development Manager, I feel privileged to be able to work with the GCE community - a community that is so important to me and that I feel very much part of. IDEA has always brought us all together, so it makes me so happy to be part of that.

I know through my many years in the sector the impact that GCE has on society, so I’m looking forward to demonstrating the community’s impact through the Theory of Impact work and helping us all realise Vision 2030. I’m so looking forward to working with all the members and supporting you the best I can.”
